Blithfield Reservoir

Today I went for a drive to Blithfield Resrvoir - somewhere I’ve been to several times before but never had my camera with me. Located just south of Abbots Bromley (in Staffordshire) and North-East of Rugeley, this picturesque location has a lot to offer.

The reservoir itself is separated into two main bodies of water by a dam (the B5013), with a car park at each end. As you drive across the dam, you are greeted with a huge expanse with incredible views all around.

As well as stunning meadows with grazing cattle..

If you prefer somewhere quieter, which isn’t by the main raod, then look no further than the Blithfield Walks (of which there are three trails). To find the carpark for the trails simply head across the damn (if you’re coming from Rugeley) and take a left at the t-junction (towards Uttoxeter), then take the next left down Newton Hurst Lane. The entrance to the carpark will be on your left about 1 mile up the road (again, this carpark is free).

If you’re looking for somewhere that has both expansive, picturesque landscapes and quiet, peaceful woodland, then definitely visit Blithfield. It’s easy to get to from whichever direction you’re coming from and it’s just an all-round great location whatever the weather.
